Roz McCall, Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP for the Mid Scotland and Fife region, has expressed serious concerns following the latest operational data showing a worrying rise in ambulance response times for the most critical emergencies in Fife.
The 90th percentile response time for "code red" patients in Fife has increased to 15 minutes and 9 seconds as of 26 August 2024, up from 14 minutes and 5 seconds the previous period.
McCall has called on the Scottish Government to address this unacceptable delay in emergency response times immediately, stressing the need for urgent action to prevent lives from being put at further risk. The target response time for the most serious incidents is 8 minutes.
Roz McCall MSP said:
"It is deeply troubling that code red patients in Fife are facing increasing delays in getting the urgent care they need. The fact that our ambulance response times are getting worse is a direct reflection of the strain on our emergency services in the same week that the SNP are making cuts to our public services. This is not just a number on a spreadsheet—this is about people’s lives."
"While our frontline NHS staff work tirelessly to serve our communities, they are being let down by a lack of adequate support and resources from the SNP government. I will continue to push for immediate action to bring these response times back within the target and ensure that patients in Fife and across Scotland can rely on a rapid response in their time of need."
